Liquid Anti-Strips
![]() |
We are the leading manufacturer of liquid anti-strips in North America. Our AD-here® line of products improves adhesion between asphalt cement and aggregate, improving the performance of asphalt pavements in terms of reduced pavement rutting and moisture induced damage. These products can be added directly to liquid asphalt at refineries or terminals or at hot mix plants. If odor is a concern, we make a line of products specifically formulated to reduce or eliminate odors caused by adding anti-strip to hot asphalt. We have an AMRL Laboratory with SuperPave capability that can test mix designs and select the right product for your application.
For more information about the effect of liquid anti-strips on asphalt binders, please read our paper given by Ray Gore, ArrMaz Technical Manager at the 2003 Peterson Asphalt Conference in Laramie, Wyoming: Effect of Amine-Based Anti-Strip Additives on the Performance Grade of Asphalt Binders (PDF)
Liquid Anti-Strips vs. Hydrated Lime
Liquid anti-strips or hydrated lime can do an equivalent job of preventing asphalt stripping, but liquid anti-strips are far easier and less costly to use. Below is a comparison of liquid versus a wet slurry lime system at a typical hot mix asphalt plant:
| Liquid | Lime | |
| Additive Cost | Moderate | 1.3 to 3 times Liquid |
| Captial Cost | Less than $10,000 | $100,000 or more |
| Throughput | No Impact | Reduced |
| Complexity | One Step | Multiple Steps |
| Regulatory Approval | 20 States | 10 States |
For a comparison of the performance of liquid anti-strip additives versus hydrated lime, please read our technical paper "A Comparison of Liquid Antistrip Additives and Hydrated Lime Using AASHTO T-283" (PDF)
